Linda McCartney

The Here, there and Everywhere concert was organized to celebrate the memory of Linda McCartney. All profits were donated to one of Linda's favourite charities, Animaline. To many people Linda was best known as the wife of ex Beatle Paul McCartney. But she was much more than that. Linda studied arthistory, but also loved photography. Through a lucky break she managed to get exclusive pictures of the Rolling Stones when they were promoting their album Aftermath. This was the beginning of her freelance photography career. During a trip to London where the Beatles were promoting the Sergeant Pepper album she met Paul, they fell in love. They married in 1967 and stayed together for the rest of their lives. During the seventies Linda and Paul were in the band Wings. Linda kept on working on her photography. During this time Paul and Linda realized they didn't like to eat meat and became vegetarians. Through the years Linda became very active for several animal rights charities. She produced a line of vegatarian prepared foods, published several cookbooks as well as photobooks. During their marriage Paul and Linda never liked the limelight much and preferred to live privately in their remote homes in Sussex and Scotland. Not many celebrity marriages exist that long, but Paul and Linda were very close and managed to raise their four children sane and happy. They all are succesfull now in their own right and that probably has a lot to do with growing up in a close and happy family. This in itself is quite an outstanding feat in the land of showbiz and says a lot about the kind of person Linda must have been. In December '95 Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy hopes were up that she might overcome this disease. Linda's positive outlook on life surely helped a lot, but sadly Linda lost her battle on April 17th 1998.
